Martin Suess
European Space Agency

Biography

Martin Suess is currently the Head of the On-Board Payload Data Processing Section at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) of the European Space Agency (ESA) at Noordwijk in the Netherlands. He and his group are working on payload data processing systems and technologies for satellite missions in the field of Earth observation, planetary, and deep-space exploration. One particular interest is the development of on-board processing architectures and on-board networks where they have a leading role in the development of the SpaceWire standard, SpaceWire compliant devices, test equipment and units. He is currently looking at the development of SpaceFibre, a fibre optic extension of SpaceWire aimed at speeds of several Giga bit per second.

Mr. Suess has received a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Universität Karlsruhe
